A full week before Monster Hunter Portable 3rd hits Japan and begins its path to at least four million units sold, PSP saw a major sales surge this week. The system jumped more than two fold, to 96,000 units, which was almost good enough to outsell every other system combined.PSP did not have the top selling game for the week, though. That honor went to, which sold nearly 130,000 units on the PS3 alone. The Xbox 360 version placed 7th with 30,000 units.

Square Enix is handling publishing duties on the Japanese version of Black Ops. The last Call of Duty saw criticism amongst Japanese players due to its poor localization. For Black Ops, Square Enix is giving players the choice of subtitled and dubbed versions. The subtitles version is the one that topped the charts this week. The dubbed version will be released in December.

Not as successful last week was Kinect. Microsoft launched the hands-free gaming device with a star-filled Saturday launch event. While Xbox 360 did see a three fold sales increase to 7,000 units, no Kinect game made it into the top 20. Of course, this is just with two days of sales (Media Create's tracking period ends on Sunday), so we'll have to wait and see if things pick up.
