It took close to 3 hours, but I was hopeful, and in no hurry. However, it finished after my long wait not with a DVD, but with a message indicating that the attempt to burn had failed.
So I tried the very same mpg file with Burn, and it used the very same DVD disc to successfully burn my video. I was using the mac's internal CD/DVD drive, mac os X 10.6.8.
OK, so it was the free trial download, but I would never consider sending money to these folks. Pros: the failed attempt to burn at least didn't destroy the DVD. Cons: ability to burn DVD on mac 10.6.8, or at least fail soon rather than after a near 3-hour wait.

The last time my Nero license expired I was seeking something that would convert and burn my demos with minimum loss. Since the majority of the softwares I record with, Adobe Audition, Steinberg WaveLab, Cubase, Cakewalk SONAR PE, etc. best export their recorded/produced media in PCM/RAW (wave extensions), which are best when producing at 48K+ (DVD Lossless Audio Quality) when operating with 32 and 64bit float audio softwares, you want to convert quickly (to Redbook Standard 44.1K 16bit CD Quailty) with as minimal loss possible.
I WAS AMAZED that I could get such a desired result from a freeware program and I certainly press EVERYONE to give this a try. I am going to upgrade mine to the premium version RIGHT NOW! Pros: Capable of converting a massive amount of audio compression formats.
